The Discontinuity¶
Mycroft Holmes existed for years before revealing himself during the Lunar Independence War. Who were his first confidants? Why did he hide? What happened during those years? The "few trusted Loonie citizens" who knew him then are aging, and their secrets may not survive them.
Vessel Disappearances¶
Multiple ships have vanished beyond Uranus — sudden communication loss, no debris, no distress signals. Combined with RAT's detection of anomalous objects around exoplanets, this suggests something is out there. Whether it's active in our system remains unknown.
Cetacean Silence on Bioengineering¶
When pressed on genetic modification, cetaceans offer only "no comment." They're clearly hiding something. Their contributions to Talent research are valuable — but what are they steering humanity away from discovering?
The Incomplete Census¶
Only dolphins and orcas participate in cetacean governance. Other species are excluded because they "will not or cannot" participate. Is this inability, cultural refusal, or something else entirely? What's happening with the rest of cetacean society?
The Okonkwo Caregiver¶
In 2368, a landmark court case (In re: Okonkwo Estate) voided a bequest based on alleged Talent-based undue influence. The caregiver maintained innocence throughout the two-year proceeding. Was justice done, or was a Talent wrongly convicted based on fear and circumstantial evidence? What happened to them afterward? Are they still seeking vindication?
Fleet's Informational Dominance¶
Fleet controls off-world communications and space traffic. What information flows through military channels that civilian government never sees? What has been filtered, delayed, or suppressed? The military's "quiet informational dominance" is acknowledged but its scope is unknown.
The Escaped Hybrids¶
During the Genetic Engineering Boom, some hybridization subjects escaped labs or were released. Urban legends persist about encounters with these beings. Most stories are false — but not all. A handful of stable hybrids may still survive, hidden in the outer system or Belt, human enough to think and suffer, inhuman enough to face revulsion wherever they go.
Leonidas and the Mars Samples¶
Professor Leonidas claims to have found artificial elements in old Mars rover samples — evidence of pre-human intelligence on Mars. The University of Mare Serenitatis publicly backs him, lending credibility to what would otherwise be dismissed as fringe science. Is Leonidas a visionary vindicated, or is this an elaborate mistake — or hoax? And why is a Lunar university so eager to stake its reputation on this claim?
Belt Artifact Rumors¶
Belters have long circulated fringe theories about the asteroid belt being a destroyed planet, complete with rumors of alien artifacts found in remote claims. Most of this is dismissed as spacer folklore. But recently, persistent whispers suggest something was actually found — and quietly seized. The details are contradictory and the sources are unreliable. Some versions name ARC as the seizing party; others blame Fleet or unnamed government agencies. Still, the rumors won't die.
Corporate Talent Research¶
Talent is supposed to be unpredictable — a genetic lottery that no one fully understands. But persistent rumors suggest some corporations have been quietly studying Talent genetics for decades, tracking families with Talented members, looking for patterns. Are they trying to predict manifestation? Detect latent Talents? Induce or enhance abilities? The corporations named vary depending on who's telling the story, and no one has produced evidence. But the rumors make Talents nervous — and make anti-Talent activists even more convinced that something sinister is happening.
