A decade in Customs, much of it on the docks where onboarding and offloading happen — which is why, when the Deimos trail ship came in, Martin Cygnus was the man whose post covered it.

What he gave Lin, over the course of a quiet conversation: the ship's departure time and vector; the fact that the usual inspection was paid to not happen — no Ceres Customs eyes ever went inside; cargo neither added nor removed; a complement of muscle off, a complement of scientists on; and a crew replaced wholesale by Cerealis short-term contracts, excepting only the Captain and XO.
