Spice Road Crew Roster¶
Named crew of the MC Spice Road, supplementing the ship document. This is a GM roster, not a full manifest: the ship carries ~35, and the names below are the ones a player is most likely to meet at the table. Unnamed bench exists in every department — engineering support (4–6), drone operators (6 more under Mac), security complement, cargo hands.
Canon anchors already established: Captain Fatou Diallo (precog, designed the ship, crew loyalty is to her personally), Pilot Jesus Chavez, Dr. Lily Murray. The crew is not read in — they know their ship is more than it appears, but not why, and the mission team's arrival was a surprise Diallo framed on her own terms.
Bridge¶
- Co-pilot Renata "Ren" Kowalczyk — Flies like she's mildly annoyed at physics and keeps winning the argument. She and Chavez have a running chess game by message that has lasted four years and three postings; both claim to be ahead.
- Navigator Sam Haile — Plots burns with a stylus on a pad older than some of the crew. Says the computers are for checking his work. No one has ever caught him wrong.
- Comms Officer Ines Duarte — Collects languages the way other people collect mugs; currently at eleven, "depending on whether you count Belter hand-sign, which you should." The ear of the ship — nothing comes in or out without her noticing.
Engineering¶
- Chief Engineer Pradeep "Deep" Chandran — Third-generation engine room. Calls the three reactors "the girls" and can tell which one is grumbling by the deck-plate vibration through his boots. Was openly guarded about Kai embedding — "the engine room is not a laboratory" — and came around after Kai fixed the #2 feed-pump resonance Deep had been chasing for a year. Will deny coming around. Came around.
- Engineer Yui Kobayashi — Young, precise, keeps a private notebook of every workaround the ship has ever needed, titled Things That Should Not Work. Deep knows about the notebook. The notebook is why she's on this ship.
Drone Operations¶
- Drone Chief Makena "Mac" Odhiambo — Runs the bay like an air traffic controller and a den mother simultaneously. Her eight operators are dual-qualified across the ship and would walk into fire for her — and she would know, because she's already run the telemetry on it.
- Drone Op Teo Lindqvist — Youngest person aboard. A hotshot who names his drones (his favorite is Smilla). Flew four simultaneously through the boarding action at the pirate station, then quietly threw up in a storage locker. Nobody teased him. Nobody else could have flown it.
Gunnery¶
- Railgun Chief Elsa Bergström — Cross-trained from engineering, like her whole crew. Treats the railgun like a cathedral organ: maintenance is liturgy, firing is sacrament, and she does not expect to perform the sacrament. "The best shot is the one everyone knows we can take." Can tell you the personality of each of the four charged capacitors.
Cargo & Logistics¶
- Cargo Master Femi Adebayo — Baron of the cargo bay. Everything in his kingdom has a place, a manifest line, and a story, and he can produce all three on demand. After the assault he ran triage on seventeen freed people's belongings — most of them had nothing, and what nothing they had, he found space for.
Security¶
- Security Chief Dae-ho "Day" Moon — Quiet. Ex-something; he never says what, and the crew has a betting pool. Evaluated "Linnea Saburo" within a week of her coming aboard, concluded she was more than her papers, and chose — deliberately, in his private log — not to poke. If the team's covers ever come out, Day will be the least surprised person on the ship and will consider it professional courtesy to pretend otherwise.
Medical¶
- Dr. Lily Murray — (Established canon.) Ship's doctor, frizzy redhead. Oversaw the Yanli Merge with composure and professionalism despite witnessing something unprecedented. Since the assault she has quietly restocked the bay for seventeen extra people without being asked.
- Medic Susana "Susu" Boateng — Murray's right hand. Former Belt emergency medic; has set bones in null-g and once delivered a baby in a cargo pod. The baby is five now, carries Susu's middle name, and the family sends a photo every equinox. Slept in the medical bay for three days after the assault; the crew brought her food without being asked.
Steward & Admin¶
- Steward Esperanza "Espie" Vidal — Runs the galley and, by ancient maritime tradition nobody wrote down, the crew's morale. Cooked the dinner that became a whole evening when the crew read in Vance. Has opinions about every person aboard, expressed exclusively through portion sizes. If you get the small portion, you know what you did.
