Clarus

Character Summary

Player: Rachel

Victoria is the crew's doctor, linguist, and moral compass. A Terran-born physician who followed her grandmother into medicine, she carries the weight of the Tiamat vision she received on Ceres and dreams that are leading her somewhere whether she wants to go or not. Composed, precise, and quietly formidable — Intimidation B5 says everything about how this woman handles a room.

Background

Victoria is a Terran who attended the University of Mare Serenitatis, earning both an MD and a PhD in Biology before Fleet service. After completing her education, she enlisted and went through Basic Training alongside Azure Armstrong and Kai Le Gerrac.

Her Fleet posting was to Ceres, where she served in a dual role: practicing medicine and teaching it. During this time, she was called in by the UEF to examine remains recovered from the Tiamat cylinder — selected because she had the right expertise and was already on site. What she experienced left her with heavy secrets and an NDA that forbids discussing the cylinder "with anyone who does not already know about it" — a loophole the UEF apparently didn't think through carefully.

After her service term ended, Victoria returned to Luna as a guest lecturer at UMS. She happened to travel on the same vessel as Rin Jeong, who was heading to Luna for coursework after her own rehabilitation on Ceres. The journey gave them time to become genuine friends — and Victoria learned the real story of Mispahk.

Victoria's Talent includes empathy with psychometry, plus trained microkinesis that she applies to medical work.

As the only crew member with full medical training, Victoria serves as the de facto ship's doctor aboard the Sagan — though her primary value to the mission is linguistics and her Talent. She has expressed interest in learning cetacean medicine to better fill the medical role.

Recruitment to the Sagan

Professor Leonidas needed a medical officer for the Mars mission. Victoria was already at UMS as a guest lecturer on medicine — a natural choice for him to reach out to. Her linguistics background and Talent made her especially valuable for a mission that might encounter alien artifacts.

Session Notes

Notes from play, organized by session.

Session One (2026-01-23)

  • Keeps a strict dream journal about the Tiamat dreams — when they happen, how they differ, her interpretations. Has not noted differences in content, only her own interpretation (training as an empath). Gets more from it with each repetition. "Clearly someone is trying to communicate, I just need to establish the connection."
  • "Might be a morning person"
  • Plans to learn cetacean medicine to more fully fill role as ship's doctor
  • After Rin explained the Mispahk artifact, Victoria considered the PCs "read in" and felt justified sharing her Tiamat experience under the NDA loophole
  • Had Clarus fetch papers related to Kai's Venn study; found Dr. Okafor's work
